Biodiversity and AI

You all must have read or heard that the earth’s biodiversity (variety of all living things) is declining at an alarming rate due to human activities, such as changes in the way land is being used, pollution, etc. Biodiversity is essential for healthy and sustainable human existence, and birds are an essential part of our biodiversity. A team of researchers at Cornell University developed a tool that leverages big data and artificial intelligence to estimate the distribution (where, when, with what other species, and under what environmental conditions) of various bird species. This information in turn helps identify and prioritize landscapes of high conservation value, which is vital for dealing with biodiversity loss.
